What is digital marketing?
It is often referred to as “internet marketing”, but it goes far beyond internet marketing. Digital marketing refers to any marketing that uses digital channels to generate leads. This includes mobile messaging (both SMS and MMS), email marketing, social media marketing, visual advertising, search engine marketing, and apps. Here are some tactics for digital marketing for small businesses.
1. Business website
No matter how active you are on social media, they cannot replace your business website. Your website is the digital home of your business and the only place on the internet where you can have complete control over your message. Your website doesn’t have to be nice, but it needs to be mobile to respond. This plays an important role in digital marketing for small businesses.
2. Search Engine Optimization
Search engine optimization (SEO) is the process of increasing website traffic through regular (unpaid) search results. According to Google, since 2015, there have been more queries from mobile devices than from desktop computers.
a.) Use of Relevant Keywords
SEO has several moving parts, including the use of relevant keywords on your site, your presence on social media, links to your site from external sites, and more. According to Clutch, the complexity of SEO is one of the reasons why only 44% of companies invest in SEO. The good news is that hitting this 44% could precede the competition.
b.) Search for local businesses
Many of these searches are performed when users search for local businesses on the go, so Google’s search results now focus on sites optimized for local search, incorporating location information and location-related keywords.
c.) Optimize your Website
In addition to optimizing your site for local searches, advertise your business location in local search directories, such as Google My Business, and make sure your name, address, and phone number (NAP) are the same in your local search directories.
3. Email marketing
Nearly seven out of ten companies use email marketing, making it the third most popular digital marketing method. Nearly half (47%) of people from different demographic groups check their emails using mobile devices; 81% of them use a smartphone (as opposed to tablets). In addition, the majority of emails (33%) are opened on mobile devices.
4. Social media marketing
According to Clutch, social media is the number one marketing channel used by companies: 83% of companies use it. There’s a good reason for this: According to Statistics, 77% of Americans use social media. Make sure you’re up to date with new social media channels and where your targeted customers are spending their time.
